Stephen Nichols Launches Bail Loan Crowdfunding Website

oregon-jail-bailStephen P. Wagner Nichols has launched a crowdfunding website. He won his bail hearing back in the summer. Now he would like to take advantage of the opportunity that the court has given him by posting bail in the amount of $200,000.

The problem is that he’s in jail and not working. That is why he has set up this Funded Justice website. He is asking for folks to donate money to be returned back to the donors pro rata upon return of the bail from the court (less the court and website processing fees).

His pretrial release is vital to adequately participate in his own defense. He needs to have regular access to his attorneys. While he’s in jail talking on the phone to his attorneys, there are other inmates standing around listening. It’s impossible to have a confidential attorney phone call this way.

Do you know anyone who was hiking Eagle Creek Trail (Punch Bowl Falls) in March of 2009? Please contact us!

Our first order of business is to identify anyone who may have been hiking the day of the cliff fall.  Please let us know if you know anyone who may know anything.

We could also use photographs, videos, or any anecdotes about hiking conditions, trail running at the cables, other near misses or near falls, etc.

Also, we are looking for any general experiences with the Hood River Sheriff’s Office and handling of evidence.

Please contact Arnold Law at 541-338-9111 to share your experiences or comment here. Or send an email to M I K E , then the AT sign and then Arnold Law Firm (all one word), followed by dot com.  This is spelled out to prevent spam.

Arnold Law Retained to Represent Steve Nichols in Murder Case

Mike Arnold and his team of attorneys at Arnold Law have been retained by Stephen Nichols to represent him against false accusations of murder in the hiking fall death of Rhonda Casto.  The couple had one daughter.

The death of Rhonda Casto (commonly misspelled “Ronda Castro”) occurred on March 16, 2009.  The Hood River District Attorney and Hood River Sheriff’s Office waited five years before filing charges against Steve Nichols and waited another year to notify him of the murder charge so that he could begin his investigation.

His attorney, Michael Arnold, had this to say about the 6 year delay: “This delay is greatly prejudicing him in proving his innocence.  Memories fade and evidence disappears. That is why we have established this website: To do the truth seeking that needs to be done.”
